Today’s Phones and Plans for Filipinos

Talk is Cheap and I mean that figuratively and literally.

Stay connected all-day for just 5 pesos with Smart's Piso App
Stay connected all-day for just 5 pesos with Smart’s Piso App

Did you know you can surf the internet now for as low as 1 peso? That’s five hours of web surfing time that translates to PhP5.00 worth of online access per day! That’s what SMART Prepaid is offering and what about Globe Prepaid?  It too has its own special rate for its die-hard followers: PhP50 for one day unlimited internet surfing — even when you’re also on a Postpaid Plan! So why are you still talking on the phone when you can use Viber, WhatsApp, KakaoTalk, WeChat, and Line to do all the for free!

Here are fun things you can do on the web surfing in ‘casual mode’:
1. Check out friends’ status on Facebook
2. Find out the latest NBA or Showbiz news  on Twitter
3. Scan your email inbox for great offers
4. Watch the latest videos on Vimeo and YouTube
5. Take a selfie on your Instagram account

With unlimited access on the web, we haven’t mentioned that it’s a great tool to search for answers on assignments and homeworks you’re finishing while reading up on the latest news on Yahoo! and/or on Inquirer.net.

Quality Smartphones for less than USD172 is something more and more Filipinos are getting into
Quality Smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors (whatever that means!) for less than USD172 is something more and more Filipinos are getting into

Smartphones are more affordable than ever before. We have at least four small Android OS operated phone-players raking it big in the mobile scene with Cherry Mobile picking up huge swaths of the curious market and where Starmobile, O+, and myPhone are all but cashing in to the growing market yearning to be connected on the Internet.

Filipinos are more and more beginning to ask: Why stay offline and miss all the fun? Why pass up the latest buzz and trends on the Internet where people converge from different backgrounds; Where businesses continue to engage customers and build relationships with old and new followers like never before, and where news never gets old and gets re-tweeted, re-posted, and becomes insanely viral creating more memes and other graphic tales so to speak.

Savings Using Household Vinegar

Most potent Vinegar
Most potent Vinegar

I found this video and since saving money and planet earth is close to our hearts, I want to share this video with you. We’ll be posting more videos like this so you know what kitchen items we can use to save money and does the same work that other costly chemical-based products are doing for us.

Except for the anti-freeze tip, which is irrelevant to our country’s current climate,  enjoy this 9 other uses of Vinegar and share it to your friends who are either pro-environment or pro-money-saving tips. Melissa Maker hosts this video. Enjoy!

So the next time you’re in the Supermarket, you can always be comforted to know that buying a lot of Vinegar is to your advantage because it’s widely used for so many things. We recommend Datu Puti White Vinegar for the purposes she demonstrated here.

Epson Finally Brings Back the Black

I bought two but will there be another ink drought again?
I bought two but will there be another ink drought again?

Finally! Epson made the Black Color 73N Ink Cartridges available for TX110 printer owners like me. We know how most printers work and they won’t produce any output if you lack one cartridge.  The black printer cassettes  were delivered last Saturday (June 7th) but my friends at Silicon Valley at the Forum Robinsons Mall said only 20 were delivered. So after that, no word if it was going to be replenished. I bought two.

Imagine how many printer models will be affected without this cartridges
Imagine how many printer models will be affected without this cartridges

Those should last me about three months of four but as my observations tell me, it won’t last that long because these vials aren’t made like they used to. According to my observations, these ink containers used to last four months of printing black documents but now you’d be lucky to get two months out of these.

If you’re like me and would like to bring this issue up with Epson Philippines, you can contact them here.

Beautiful Toy Kingdom, Ugly Sales Tactics

Will do all they can to make a sale and they're making a 'killing'
Will do all they can to make a sale and they’re making a ‘killing’

This example is not like what I experienced because this video is not Toy Kingdom, however,  having seen this post on Facebook proves what sales representatives are doing nowadays to make that sale no matter what — even to the detriment of the customer — they will continue doing it and it should stop.

This is my story and it happened in Toy Kingdom.

It was Wednesday, 28th May when I ventured in SM Megamall’s Toy Kingdom in Building A or the one that is right across the Fastfood Area at the basement level.

Holding a PhP300 toy train for my eldest son, a salesman for a competing brand came up to me and blurted out, “Sir! Pangit yan.” referring to the toy I was holding. “Wala yan sir. Walang kuwenta yan.” (That toy has no value, sir. It doesn’t amount to any thing.)

Ouch!

The toy I’m holding has no value and the impression he gave me is that I don’t — in effect — value my son’s happiness because of a 300 peso toy train. What a father am I huh?

I obliged to see what wants to show me and showed this colorful toy train that is structured like a roller coaster. Nice indeed but it’s not within my budget but now how can I go back to the train I still want to give my son that he already labeled, “Walang kuwenta!” I’m almost embarrassed to move or to even pick up the box I want.

I ended up leaving the store without the toy for my kid.

Toy Kingdom Megamall is beautiful but the sales tactics of representatives who want to make a sale…boy, that’s UGLY! Change that please.

I don’t mean to single out Toy Kingdom because you can see from the video that this kind of up-selling strategy is demeaning and provocative that will not bring out the value of what they’re selling.

Don’t be Late, More Points From Super 8!

FC Super 8 Rebate PointsPlanning your grocery shopping this week? Read this and think about what you will get back in return.

Super 8 has given loyal shoppers like me the best way to amass points from their Super 8 Rewards Card.  Like most rewards cards that offer point system based on every “X” amount of purchases, Super 8 has innovated a system that will just make me buy more items from their store.

Through cumulative purchases, a shopper can get as much as 30,000 points (1 point = PhP1.00) that can be used to shop in other stores. Other cumulative point systems isn’t as rewarding as their promo that has been running since April.

I run a convenience store and with frequent purchases I make, the rewards I get at the end of a month is equal to additional capital I need to make more item purchases that my loyal store customer needs.

I’m sharing this information because other stores will make you do other stuff like fill out a form or even redeem certificates that seem like they really do not want to give. Come check out Super 8 and tell them where you got your news because Filipino Consumers like you who read our blogs deserve more cost-saving measures like this.

Have fun shopping!
