Here are fun things you can do on the web surfing in ‘casual mode’:
1. Check out friends’ status on Facebook
2. Find out the latest NBA or Showbiz news  on Twitter
3. Scan your email inbox for great offers

Quality Smartphones for less than USD172 is something more and more Filipinos are getting into
Quality Smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors (whatever that means!) for less than USD172 is something more and more Filipinos are getting into

Smartphones are more affordable than ever before. We have at least four small Android OS operated phone-players raking it big in the mobile scene with Cherry Mobile picking up huge swaths of the curious market and where Starmobile, O+, and myPhone are all but cashing in to the growing market yearning to be connected on the Internet.

Filipinos are more and more beginning to ask: Why stay offline and miss all the fun? Why pass up the latest buzz and trends on the Internet where people converge from different backgrounds; Where businesses continue to engage customers and build relationships with old and new followers like never before, and where news never gets old and gets re-tweeted, re-posted, and becomes insanely viral creating more memes and other graphic tales so to speak.

Don’t be Late, More Points From Super 8!

FC Super 8 Rebate PointsPlanning your grocery shopping this week? Read this and think about what you will get back in return.

Super 8 has given loyal shoppers like me the best way to amass points from their Super 8 Rewards Card.  Like most rewards cards that offer point system based on every “X” amount of purchases, Super 8 has innovated a system that will just make me buy more items from their store.

Through cumulative purchases, a shopper can get as much as 30,000 points (1 point = PhP1.00) that can be used to shop in other stores. Other cumulative point systems isn’t as rewarding as their promo that has been running since April.

I run a convenience store and with frequent purchases I make, the rewards I get at the end of a month is equal to additional capital I need to make more item purchases that my loyal store customer needs.

I’m sharing this information because other stores will make you do other stuff like fill out a form or even redeem certificates that seem like they really do not want to give. Come check out Super 8 and tell them where you got your news because Filipino Consumers like you who read our blogs deserve more cost-saving measures like this.

Have fun shopping!

BPI Brings Back Deposit Machines

Express Deposit Machines (EDMs)
Express Deposit Machines (EDMs)

BPI has been upgrading its services. I love their queuing machine that jots the account numbers and speeds up transactions of people making deposits and withdrawals. I also found out last night, while watching ANC on Cable, BPI is busy installing new machines its near 900 ATM locations where people can update their accounts with deposits. It’s called Express Deposit Machines or EDMs. Its clients can deposit their payments without the hassle of using envelopes to transact and credit their accounts with cash. The machine can handle up to 99 pieces of peso bills and it scans it with a technology that is at par with world’s standards.

Other banks are noisy with creating bigger hedges to project their stability and service image trying to attract more businesses but BPI is busy harboring technology and listening to customers on what their needs are and they are slowly improving each and every facet so customers would delight in banking and use this to attract more investors.

Instant Credit is what I like about this machine best
Instant Credit is what I like about this machine best

BPI says that they have installed over 450 EDMs concentrating their efforts in business hubs like Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao. They will have more than 500 EDMs installed by the end of 2014 trying to complete their work perhaps in two years time. Locate your nearest EDMs here.

Downside: Customers who deposit bills that are vandalized: written on, ripped, or are too dilapidated will not be accepted and ‘spitted’ from the machine. This shows that we need to reject any bills that are taped on with ‘scotch tape’, stapled on, or drawn on with pens.

Cheese That’s More than O.K.

What cheese do you normally use in your cooking or simply in your bread every morning? I grew up with Eden cheese and I love it. For me, there’s no other local cheese that can be any better than Eden.

Until I came across O.K. Cheese.

Its name is unassuming. The first time I saw it, it didn’t appeal to me or anything. It doesn’t have that ‘umph!’ that screams, ‘buy me and try me — I’m better’! But there was this one time that my husband actually bought it. Still not convinced though, I just let it sit in the fridge for the longest time. And when I finally decided to try it, it surprised me. I looked at the label again to make sure that it was O.K. Cheese that I just used for my Garlic Tomato Crepe.

No joke. It's more than OK!
No joke. It’s more than OK!

It was good. Actually it was really good. Much like my normal cheese but little better with a good balance of flavor. For its price of less than Php80 I got a very good cheese food that’s perfect for my cooking and my son’s plain bread.

So whenever I go to the grocery, it’s now “O.K.!” in my cart.

It’s a Date, Chocolate!

I don’t easily get swayed by packaging when it comes to candy bars but something caught my attention and it pulled me wanting for more. I’m talking about unit16sweets chocolates and it’s really funny how their company name came from their condominium unit “Unit 16” but amusing as they are, I think they’re very serious with their product.

Unit16Sweets Chocolates are colorful, fun, and personalized. You can actually use them to make souvenirs for your parties especially weddings when you need more useful and sensible gifts to thank your visitors. The best part about these chocolates is that they come from Davao. Who wouldn’t want to support that? Buy Local, right?! In fact, I thought the whole business was just a re-packaging business out of Hersheys Candy Bars and I’m not about to exaggerate it but I think Mars Company and Hersheys should watch their back because if the kind of chocolate I tasted is what the future of our local confectionary industry would look like then for sure, they’ll be getting a run for their money.

Costing PhP50 a piece from where I bought them in Robinsons Forum, the Dark Chocolate Peppermint tastes so alike Andes Mint Chocolates. They’re delicious! That’s no exaggerating. Consider this: Compute how much imported candies are and compute the value of supporting Philippines-made products? Who would you rather support? Now, wouldn’t you care about the fifty bucks I gave? Of course not! It will all be for a good cause and that is to support upcoming businesses, micro entrepreneurs is what I call ’em.

The concept, the idea, the flavors are very exceptional that I volunteered to feature them here and that has nothing to do with the tasting yet. After trying one out, I thought more people should know about this.

If you’re looking for personalized gifts, souvenirs for weddings, debutante’s parties, giveaways for events then you might want to consider re-branding your affairs with this love for chocolate. That’s why I didn’t have a problem naming my post, “It’s a Date, Chocolate!” because this is one sweetheart you don’t want to let go.

Why spend more when there are affordable solutions for your eye care

If you wear contact lenses like I do and you want to cut down expenses in contact lens solutions then spend only PhP95.00 (US$2.16) and buy Lens Care. This is locally manufactured and it works completely the same as any of the imported brands of contact lens cleaners you get from boutique shops and stores in malls.

Put more money in your pockets and head off to Mercury Drug to buy this today. By the way, as for your savings — add it to your savings. You can probably save as little as PhP400 a year by switching to this.
